Mindfulness Based Therapy

    Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Where talk therapy meets body-based healing.

Most therapy practices mention mindfulness as a technique. At Savant Care, we built it into the care model. Patients can access free 1:1 Trauma-Informed Yoga sessions with a certified instructor when their provider recommends it, coordinated with your therapist and psychiatric provider. This is not an add-on. It is how we practice.

Savant Care combines medical psychiatry with Trauma-Informed Yoga.

    How mindfulness-based therapy works here
    01

    Talk therapy with mindfulness

Your therapist integrates mindfulness techniques (MBCT, ACT, or MBSR) into your sessions. You learn to observe thoughts without being consumed by them.

    02

    Trauma-Informed Yoga sessions

Between therapy appointments, you attend free 1:1 yoga sessions with Riya Bhatt. These build body awareness, self-regulation, and stress resilience in a safe, guided setting.

    03

    Psychiatric support if needed

If medication would support your progress, your therapist connects you with a prescriber on the same team. Mindfulness practices work well alongside medication.

    04

    Skills that stay with you

Mindfulness is a skill that deepens with practice. You leave therapy with techniques you can use independently, long after sessions end.

    Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

Combines mindfulness meditation with CBT techniques. Originally developed to prevent depression relapse. Teaches you to observe thoughts without engaging in the spiral.

    Frequently asked questions
    Do I need meditation experience?

No. Your therapist and Riya (our yoga instructor) guide you from the beginning. Mindfulness develops with practice, and sessions are designed for all levels.

Is mindfulness therapy the same as meditation?

Not exactly. Mindfulness-based therapy uses meditation as one tool within a broader framework that also includes cognitive techniques, behavioral strategies, and clinical support.

How is Trauma-Informed Yoga different from regular yoga?

It emphasizes safety, choice, and body awareness over physical performance. There is no pressure to hold any pose. The instructor adapts to each person's needs and history.

Can mindfulness therapy work with medication?

Yes. Mindfulness practices complement medication well. Your therapist and prescriber coordinate on the same team at Savant Care.

How many sessions does it take?

MBCT and MBSR follow 8-week formats. ACT varies based on goals. Trauma-Informed Yoga is ongoing and available throughout your time with Savant Care.

    Is this covered by insurance?

Yes. Mindfulness-based therapy is billed as psychotherapy. Trauma-Informed Yoga is available at no additional cost when your provider recommends it. Call (866) 499-2588 to verify coverage.

    The evidence for mindfulness-based therapy

A review in JAMA Internal Medicine found moderate evidence that mindfulness meditation improves anxiety, depression, and pain (Goyal et al., 2014). MBCT specifically reduces depression relapse risk by approximately 34% compared to usual care (Kuyken et al., 2016).

What makes Savant Care different is that mindfulness is not just a technique mentioned in sessions. It is built into the care model through Trauma-Informed Yoga, a body-based practice coordinated with your therapy and psychiatric care.
